If there is one book any girl, teenager, woman, and yes maybe even guys should read, it would be Christa Black's God Loves Ugly. This book is valuable in the terms of your heart and how you feel about yourself. Not only do you hear Christa's remarkable story and how she overcame the obstacles in her life only to eventually go on tour with the Jonas Brothers and marry the love of her life, she helps you think about your life. She helps you think about what the core of your beliefs about yourself are and where they might have came from. Then, how to change that into thinking about yourself positively like she had to do. Really, from personal experience, this book changed my life and how I think. I mean there are some things everyone has to work at to stop the negative thoughts from coming in, but I (being an 18 year old girl) am so greatful for this book that it is hard to put into words. I recommend that anyone should read it no matter who they are or where they come from. Its truly inspirational. Way to go Christa Black! )
I really tried to like this book, but I felt it was like reading a reality TV show. I appreciated what God did in her life but this book was not for me. I finally gave it away to someone whom I thought would find it more useful and the person did enjoy it and thought it was helpful. If you must get it on where the price is reasonable.
Written from the heart with lot of insight. Gives a very important perspective that shines a light on things from our childhood that we unknowing carry as baggage in adulthood...
Oh my goodness. This book met me on an incredible journey to finding worth, beauty, and love. The message within the pages of "God Loves Ugly" is absolutely VITAL for all women. I want to give this book to every female that I know. A definite must read.
Finished this book in about 2 days, very clear and concise writing about the author's struggle with self-loathing, which I can personally identify with and how it manifested itself as an eating disorder for many years. Would recommend to any woman struggling with loving herself regardless of whether or not your struggle with an eating disorder.
I would like to give this to every woman I know Young and old. we all need to know how much we are loved.
This book is brilliant, it's an easy read and is for everyone. Yes, it is mainly for girls but I believe guys should read it too. We have all grown up believing lies about ourselves because of what others have said or done to us. Christa takes you on her personal journey to find freedom but along the way teaches you how to discover yourself, that you are valuable, beautiful and worthy and in that you find freedom too. I highly recommend this book.
